I came to naturopathic medicine through my background and training in fitness and nutrition. I have been passionate about health since a young age and I wanted to share that passion by working as a personal trainer and holistic nutritionist, helping people achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Through this work, I encountered many people with cancer looking for support; it was these clients who inspired me to become a naturopathic doctor focused on cancer care. I strongly believe we need whole-person support during and after cancer treatment and I have witnessed the power of naturopathic medicine in improving health, despite a cancer diagnosis. My naturopathic career has been focused in cancer care and I want every person with cancer supported, both throughout and following treatment, with safe and effective natural therapies.
Originally from Toronto, I studied biology at the University of Toronto and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science. I then completed the Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN) and subsequently worked as faculty before attending the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). After graduating with my naturopathic doctorate, I joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America as a naturopathic oncology resident in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I completed a 2-year, hospital-based residency in integrative naturopathic oncology and continued on as a staff naturopathic oncologist. Before moving back to Canada in 2018, I also worked as a naturopathic doctor at a private integrative clinic in Maryland. I am a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO) and currently see patients full-time at the CCNM Integrative Cancer Clinic.
I recognize that health is individual, and we are all on our own dynamic health continuum; my goal is to provide whole person support to my patients, meeting them where they are at. I work to restore health by finding the cause, removing obstacles and gently supporting the body to heal, using safe and evidence-informed natural treatments as therapy.
My view of naturopathic medicine in cancer care is that it is both essential at every stage of treatment as well as complementary to conventional medicine. People with cancer require additional support – whether they are undergoing treatment, during repair and recovery from treatment or working to prevent recurrence. My experience has shown me that natural interventions can be a safe, gentle and helpful way to support ourselves during challenging treatments and when looking to support recovery and our long-term health goals.
I am an active member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Practitioners, the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors. When I'm not in the clinic, I love to be moving - whether that's biking, dancing or lifting weights - or you can find me in the kitchen, experimenting with different health foods that I test on family and friends.
