Soy-Packed Smoothie Recipe

Soy isn't just your ordinary plant-based protein; it's a functional food with many health benefits. Packed with isoflavones, these compounds could help disrupt cancer growth pathways and balance estrogen levels in the body. Research even suggests that incorporating 1-3 servings of soy into your day can reduce your risk of breast cancer and its recurrence and may even lower the risk of other cancer types too. Plus, soy isoflavones may also help to reduce hot flashes and night sweats.

This soy-licious smoothie recipe is chocked full of plant-based protein and isoflavones and is a tasty way to fuel your body.

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop of plant-based protein powder of your choice (soy, rice, pea, pumpkin, etc.)
  • 85g of silken tofu (about a quarter package, depending on the brand)
  • 1 cup of unsweetened soy milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • ½ - 1 cup of water (to reach your desired consistency)
  • Optional: 1 tbsp of nut butter and 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder for that irresistible chocolate peanut butter flavor

Instructions:

  1. Gather all ingredients listed above and toss them into your standard-size blender.
  2. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed until you achieve your preferred consistency.
  3. Pour your creamy creation into your favorite glass.

*Note: If you're out of frozen bananas, just toss in a regular banana along with 2-3 ice cubes.

Pro Tip: Elevate your smoothie game by adding 1-2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed. Not only does it amp up the healthy fats and fiber content, but it also adds a delightful nutty flavor!
